Why Are Trainings So Painfully Long? (Spoiler: It’s Not Because We Enjoy It)

Why Are Trainings So Painfully Long? (Spoiler: It’s Not Because We Enjoy It)
9 : 49

Let’s be honest.
We know you have better things to do.
You’ve got flights duties to do, a spouse and family complaining you're away to much, and on top of that coffee that’s going cold.
And yet, here you are, stuck in another mandatory training course, wondering why Dangerous Goods and other training needs to feel as long as a transatlantic flight... with a headwind.

You as me know that the only thing you really need from DG fits on an A4.

So, let’s clear the air:
We don’t make training long because we enjoy watching you suffer. We’re not that kind of company. (Promise.)

At Scandlearn, we’re the ones fighting to make training shorter, smarter, and less painful.
But there’s a higher power we all answer to. It’s called compliance. And behind that? CAA. EASA. ICAO. IATA. You get the idea.

Why Dangerous Goods Feels Like a Dangerous Amount of Time

Take DG training as an example.
Yes, you do have to sit through a deep dive into lithium batteries, dry ice, radioactive materials (no, really), and all those scary symbols you hope you never see in real life.
Because if you don’t, and something slips through the cracks?
That’s not just a paperwork problem.
That’s an auditor’s dream and your worst nightmare. Flights grounded. Licenses pulled. Fines that could fund a fleet of new aircraft.

So Why Can’t We Just “Keep It Short”?

We’d love to.
In fact, we’ve spent years trimming the fat, removing the fluff, and designing content that actually respects your time.
But there are regulatory requirements.
Minimum hours. Mandatory content. Assessment rules.
The aviation industry doesn’t do shortcuts (for good reasons).

What We Can Do:

✅ Make training engaging—not death by PowerPoint.
✅ Break complex topics into bite-sized chunks you’ll actually remember.
✅ Give you tools so you don’t just pass... you know your stuff.
✅ Help you stay audit-ready, so no one gets that 3AM call.

Bottom Line

We don’t make training long because we want to.
We make it better because we have to.
And when the regulators say, "Jump!"—we say,
"Sure. But can we at least make it enjoyable?"
